You will be visiting two iconic Whittier homes built in the early years of the city. Both homes will be fully decorated for the holidays.
When selecting your ticket, you have a choice of which home to visit first. In order to keep waiting times minimal, please visit the homes in the order indicated on your ticket. As a courtesy, please start your first tour by 7 pm at the latest. After you visit the first home, please proceed directly to the second home. The two homes are several miles apart, so transportation via car is recommended.
The Light’s home is located at 5854 Painter Ave., Whittier 90601.
The Williamson’s home is located at 8119 California Ave., Whittier 90602.
You are also welcome to visit the Whittier Museum after your home tours for free cookies and hot cider. T-shirts, books, and hand made gifts will be on sale. All proceeds from the tour will benefit the Whittier Historical Society.
Restrictions:
No children under age 12, no infants in arms, no strollers
No high heeled shoes – flats only
The homes are not handicap accessible
Notes on parking:
The Light’s home is in a neighborhood where street parking is controlled by permit. The Whittier Police Department has been notified of our event, and it is unlikely that you will be ticketed unless you are parked illegally (red zone, in front of a fire hydrant, or blocking a resident’s driveway). Temporary permits will be available at the Light’s house if you would like to use one. Carpooling is encouraged!
Notes on tickets:
When tickets are bought on-line, you will receive an email with the tickets, including a printable pdf file. All the information you need will be in the email – date and time, which house first, and the addresses of the homes. We will accept tickets shown on your phone or printed on paper. You also have the option of adding the tickets to your Apple wallet. If you do so – you will lose the address information – so please keep the email. The address information is also available on our website: whittiermuseum.org
