October 14, 2017Ken Kondo, emergency program manager and public information officer with the County of Los Angeles Office of Emergency Management, will discuss earthquake preparedness at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Whittier Museum, 6755 Newlin Ave.
Kondo’s presentation coincides with the Whittier Museum’s latest exhibit, “Quake City ’87: The 30th Anniversary,” which runs now through January.
Kondo lived in Whittier for 35 years and was here when the 5.9-magnitude Whittier Narrows Earthquake struck on Oct. 1, 1987. Kondo will share memories of that day and tell you what you need to know to be ready when the “Big One” hits.
